Rev. Janet Newett
Pastor Janet has served United Church of Christ Greenawalds since June 2022 and has been engaged in professional ministry since 2004. Over the past twenty years, she has served six local congregations, developing a leadership style that blends creativity, storytelling, and thoughtful organization. She values shared leadership, clear communication, and adaptive ministry that responds to real human needs while remaining grounded in faith, hope, and love.
Pastor Janet completed the Pennsylvania Academy of Ministry Program through Lancaster Seminary and was licensed to serve as Pastor and Teacher of St. John’s UCC in Fogelsville from June 2019 to May 2022. She was ordained in the United Church of Christ at UCC Greenawalds in September 2023. She is actively involved in the Keystone Conference and the Mountain Valley Association and also serves as an Associate Chaplain at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Pastor Janet is married to Anthony, our Minister of Music and A/V Director. Their family includes adult children Grace, Paul, and Aria; Aria’s husband, Kalvin; and their beloved granddaughter, Sofia. She is also the proud human of Buddy, the church dog. In her spare time, Pastor Janet enjoys singing, drawing, and listening to music.

Anthony Newett
Minister of Music & A/V Director
Anthony’s journey toward becoming a professional musician began in early childhood, when he demonstrated “perfect pitch” to his father, Jim, in his hometown of South Philadelphia. It was there he first earned the affectionate nickname “Ant.”
In 2016, Anthony discovered the spiritual rewards of music ministry while serving alongside his beloved wife, Reverend Janet Newett. Although many of his years as a music director in various United Church of Christ congregations did not involve working side-by-side with Pastor Janet, it seemed only natural that their paths would eventually converge in shared ministry at United Church of Christ Greenawalds.
Beyond his work in the church, Ant owns and operates a production and recording studio in Allentown, where he collaborates with many talented artists. He also composes and produces music for several national radio broadcasts.
Anthony and his daughter, Aria, made their home in the Lehigh Valley in 2013, where they enjoy life with their blended family, and newest addition, his first grandchild, Sofia Alissa Alexander.
Sue Borger
Office Administrator
Susan “Sue” Borger joined our staff in the summer of 2015 and, in 2025, was promoted to Office Administrator. She brings more than 40 years of experience as an administrative assistant at Air Products & Chemicals, offering a wealth of knowledge, organization, and dedication to her role.
Sue is a lifelong member of UCC Greenawalds. She was confirmed here, married here, and her children were baptized, confirmed, and married here as well. Today, her family’s connection continues into another generation, as her grandchildren are actively involved in Faith Formation, with the three oldest currently participating in Confirmation.
Over the years, Sue has faithfully served in a variety of volunteer roles, including Christian Education Chairperson, Sunday School teacher, and Recording Secretary. Her deep roots in the church, along with her ongoing commitment to its ministry, make her an invaluable part of our church family.
Lee Stephens
Custodian
Lee Stephens has been a cherished member of the Greenawalds family for over 44 years. He recently stepped into the role of custodian, and his deep love for the church is evident in the meticulous care he gives to maintaining our facilities. His attention to detail and pride in his work help keep our building welcoming and in excellent condition.
Lee is married to Sheri Stephens, Director of UCCG’s on-site preschool, Greenawalds Nursery School. Together, they have raised three sons, Timothy, Derek, and Patrick. During his time as Scoutmaster for Troop #8, Lee guided each of his sons to the rank of Eagle Scout, reflecting his strong commitment to leadership, mentorship, and community.
With his steady dedication and servant’s heart, Lee ensures that our beloved church home is truly in the best of hands.
Buddy
The Church Dog
Buddy is our beloved church dog and faithful four-legged member of the UCC Greenawalds family. You’ll often find him at church on Sundays, happily roaming the building, greeting friends old and new with a wagging tail and a gentle spirit.
Buddy has a special gift for knowing when someone needs a little extra love. Many have noticed that after a difficult week, Buddy seems to offer just the right amount of attention—quiet companionship, a friendly nuzzle, or simply his calming presence.
A hypoallergenic Bichon Frise, Buddy serves as a support pup for our congregation and community, helping create a welcoming, compassionate, and comforting space for all. Whether you’re here every week or visiting for the first time, Buddy is always glad to meet you.
